Has anyone with a v8 ls ever used Gibson MWA mufflers? I have searched on youtube to see if anyone has used them but I have not found anything. The most common i see with ls is; magnaflow, flowmaster, and bassani. As of now i am about to run my car with a x pipe in place of the resonators and a muffler delete. Will this be too loud or should I get the mufflers when I remove the resonators?

you are thinking about a resinator AND muffler delete!?!?... yes, straight pipe will be too loud.... I ran resinators only and was on the higher end of tolerable. otherwise, ANY muffler without resinators would sound good... Resinators and any aftermarket will be a small difference between each other (to someone who thinks straight pipe is ok).

I kinda went with a similar setup, only where the resonators were I put a Magnaflow dual in/dual out muffler with a built in X-pipe. with straight pipes out to the back bumper with no mufflers in the rear. its pretty loud without being insane. its a bit louder than a regular LS would be as there are currently no cats.

I can tell you that with absolutely no mufflers at all it would be retartedly loud... like you would not be able to carry a conversation in the car kinda loud...

would also probably get a lot of attention from the boys in blue. and not in a good way.

it would be fun and cool for an hour or two tops, but it would get old very quickly.

You like that set up then ?

^ not enough WOT :( Problem between seat and accelerator ;)

I do love it. could do with a tiny less drone (no cats aint helping there) but it really gets good downshifting to engine brake. only thing that would make it better would be a bigger engine!

no, if its going to be that loud, then it needs to be a whole lot faster. otherwise it tends to be like that honda that floors it and they are pulling out of somewhere and you can hear the car accelerating for 30 mins cause its not really going anywhere.

yeah i think you are right. If i delete the resonators and replace it with an x pipe and have no mufflers it would be way to loud, so im thinking change the H pipe to an X pipe, then when i get the mufflers remove the resonators.

Should think about this set up, easier and one less muffler.

Had the 04 LSE V8 fitted with a custom exhaust this morning ... very BEAST and plenty of DRONE, just the way I like it.

Magnaflow # 11386 - 4" x 9" x 14" Dual In/Out Satin Stainless 2.5" True X core design.

Third CAT and Resonators deleted, 2.5" (not SS) piping, chrome tips added. (removed from 01 LS V8)

Very pleased, guy did an excellent job on it, I much appreciated his attention to detail,
everything lines up nicely. 3hrs total labor time, 400$ cash out the door.

Still toying with this idea. Safest mod would be a 350 horse 3v 4.6 from ford racing,,, if money were no object and the stand alone computer would interface with the LS. Next best option would be a non VVT all aluminum 4.6 DOHC from an Aviator/Maruader... but then again there would be computer issues to work out. Maybe even a new coyote 5.0 It's possible if it fits and the wiring can be figured out. Those of us that have been on this forum long enough know that an Explorer 5.0 was stuffed in and LS and the computer was made to work.

3.5 Ecoboost will fit nicely @ 365 HP??? ,,, but again the computer needs to play nice. Then there are people like alzimme that are willing to go for broke and stuff what ever fits into an LS. It all depends on your passion and drive. I still have the passsion... but unfortunately 30+ years ago I went out to set the world on fire,,, then life stole my matches.

:(

If you can make it work,,, then go for it... I'll drool. It may even give me some inspiration to go for my dream. But at the same time,,, why not the 5.2 if the new 5.0 will fit in the frame???

The GT 350R engine in an LS would be scary fast!!!!!! Not sure the chassis could handle it,,, but it would be fun. As the saying goes... "Life begins at 180". 150, (with a computer bypass), in the LS... is enough for me. Take a look at the car in my sig. I was only doing 60 at the time. Time for me to slow down. I've used 13 of my 9 lives.

Don't recommend trying this... but I've had my LS in power slides at 80 through rural curves rated at 35mph. Only time I EVER had the backend of the LS trying to passs the frontend. It's a wonder I made it!!! Worst was when I found out an old best friend had cancer. I had the car wrapped up to top speed on icy roads in December, (Christmas Eve/Day). Merry effing Christmas it was for me!!! Obviously I lived to tell about it... but also obvious I was pretty Pi**ed at the time. I tend to take my frustrations out behind the wheel... which I try not to do anymore,,, so I don't need any more horsepwer than what the LS came with stock.

so i got the x pipe put on and got the resonators taken off, it sounds great :D. i have resonated tips so at the high end it is not too raspy, i will post a video up in a few hours
