General Description
The 1996 Ford Contour is my wife's daily driver. "The Ol'96'r" was all the better of a name we could come up with for it.....I think we ran out of creative steam after "Moby", "Lucille", "The Silver Bullet" (Cutlass), "Vic 20", "Dr. Lincoln", and The other "Silver Bullet" (Taurus). This car is stock, but it's as nice as a Contour gets. Moonroof, Leather everything, the 2.5L DOHC V6, meatier looking bumpers and mag wheels. It's kinda nice. The speakers are badly blown, and the sound system is only a tape/radio (stock) but that'll change. And it could use some more power... (this needs more cowbell!)
The 2003 Ford Taurus was my daily driver until I traded it for "Vic 20" We had dubbed the Taurus "The Silver Bullet" after an unintentional speeding incident. But with a 350 Rocket V8, I think the Cutlass is more deserving of the name "The Silver Bullet" Than the Taurus. The Taurus was an SES model. It was completely stock. A pretty good sound system, mag wheels, power everything, but cloth, no spoiler, and the very bottom engine.
The 1996 Pontiac Firebird....Lucille...Ah, Lucille. She was a V6 Auto, so definitely not a Trans-Am, but she was still a Firebird... and even if she wasn't a brawler, she sure was a looker...and besides, those V6s aren't too slouchy. She was stock, green exterior with tan and dark grey interior, she looked real nice. Trouble is, the carrier bearing went out and grounded her. Once that was fixed, the car would be in good enough condition to constitute "good condition" which NADA valued at $5000. So I sold it for $2000 and put that towards getting "The Silver Bullet". It was definitely the right thing to do and totally worth it, and I'm very happy with "The Silver Bullet." But I still miss Lucille.
One of these days Dr. Lincoln will join the ranks of "The Former Cars"...til then, enjoy the pics.
