Just curious as to what other vehicles have the 3.0 found in my 02 LS. Or better yet will one from a FWD work? 3.0's out of the LS in my area or ridiculous on price is the reason I'm asking

none

no (why would that be better yet?)

whats ridiculous (how much do they want)?

It would seem you have a blown motor. If thats the case, you are really at the point of spending money on another car, spending money on a Lincoln LS V6 reman, or rolling the dice with a used motor and spending money on that. Sorry, no cheap way out on this one that we know. Of course more information might help you dial in saving some.

1 the engine is not blown. 2 priced around 700 from a jy. If they can find one. I was wanting one to rebuild using the 3.0 act parts trying to gain a little more power and have one ready when this engine goes out.

Does anyone know if the 2002 Jaguar S-type V6 will fit a Gen 1 LS? Or does the Jag have variable valve timing like the Gen 2 engines? The reason I ask is there is a cheapish Type S engine near me.

AFAIK, the 1st gen Jags did not have variable valve timing. The 2nd gen had variable valve timing, but it was not like the LS's 2nd gen variable valve timing.

So my next question is why would one from a FWD Taurus/cougar/escape not work? I've searched the internet and from what I can find it is basically the same engine with the added that some have a rear head mounted water pump. Just curious as I can find one of those for about 250 to 300 vs the 700 for a builder engine.

well for starters, the biggest is one engine is designed to be longitudinally mounted engine with a transmission behind it, the other is a transversely mounted engine with a transaxle mounted beside it. at least in other cars, while the engine is extremely similar, the external block has some minor differences, for instance, you cant use a continental 4.6 in a mark VIII or mustang.

as such, there could be many things that may just be different enough to make it not fit right in... like motor mounts, or bell housing bolts, or even where the front drive accessories may be mounted.
