This is the rectangular cover that flips up/down for access to the ash tray and lighter. I guess I got a little impatient trying to plug in a cell phone charger on my '97 LSC. Prior years won't work, must be '97 or '98. Thanks, John

"jamie has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her." Was that just plain jamie or jamie___? ToreadorLSC

i dont have one anyway, you are going to have a hard time getting what you need because it is part of the ash tray/ cup holder assembly, and considering how much money they go for , there are not many people who are willing to remove the ash tray door just to sell it seperate. unless you find someone selling the whole assembly with a busted cup holder, and it you want the correct ebony black that your 97 has, 98 will not match, 98 is midnight black, which is more of a very dark graphite color, it will work as far as interchange, but will not match in color.

If you didnt break the main rectangle part i'd just find the broken peice and super glue it back together. Super glue and duck tape will save us alot of money on these cars.

dude i hope to god you are joking.

Thanks a lot for the info, especially about '98 not matching. I've been considering, but trying to avoid, repairing the old one. I'm a congenital optimist, so I'm still hoping somebody has something I can use laying around.

Well, Mr. Optimism, you may be in luck. I THINK I have what you need, but I'm pretty sure it's not in perfect condition. I'll try and remember to check when I get home and see if I can find it and see what kind of condition it's in.

I found it last night, but it is broken on the side (where the screw-hole is, on the side). I just used a different screw and it worked fine. I'll look at it again tonight and make sure it's still usable and worth trying.

I'll stop by the bone yard today and check the 97 Black LSC that has been there for a couple months. If I recall correctly, the cup holder was broken but the ashtray was fine. If the car is still there and the part is still there, I'll grab it and let you know. I'll charge you whatever they charge me plus shipping. There were quite a few good parts still there, I have been meaning to go by and remove the whole neon assembly as they said I could have it for $50 and the Grill is perfect too which I did get for $10.

I just called them to find out since it's been raining, I didn't want to go exploring in the mud after work. They confirmed the car went to the crusher already. Almost brings a tear to my eye...

LOL, About the duck tape maybe, have yet to use that. But super glue and epoxy have worked great.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Apparently it's not unusual for the pins to break, new covers are not available, and used parts are rare. I came up with a fix that others may find useful. I tried repair with epoxy, but it just didn't hold. But then I drilled and tapped the holes and whatever was left of the "pins" with a #10-32 tap, and used pan head screws ground to he right length in place of the original self-tapping screws, re-using the little "hat" pieces. A bit of loctite, and the fix is working fine. Thanks again. John
