well things have changed, due to recent events ill have to keep the car it seems for at least 6 months so i very well may be saving it, or trying to. ill look into putting a (hopefully) good used trans into it or looking into my current one to diagnose it, and continuing with replacing the...
yeah that's true, i too wondered about beef parts meant for a Mustang 5R55S, but yeah a used trans is my best bet at this point and i still very well may do that if i come across a reasonably priced one. i've found a few that were said to be working for around $350-$500, while others are $700+...
yes i agree whole heartedly, that's why i too loved this car so much. ill look into cost of repairs but im not sure the likelihood just due to my situation unfortunately.... i really love the car, id hate to see it go to waste. i haven't been driving it, i drove it for about 2 weeks and then...
yes i am very aware and will definitely be careful who i take it to if i don't work on it myself, especially for a trans shop. mine is just a V8 Sport, not an LSE unfortunately, but it is black on black which i love and it has the nice chrome 8 (or i guess 16) spoke wheels, someone also replaced...
yeah it would be easier to just buy the car that had it lol, buy me an S-Type R while im at it lol but yeah i may just fix the cooling system and sell it and find a better example later on down the road when i have more money.
yeah i've gotten all sorts of ideas and wonders, really thinking it needs to be rebuilt/replaced. if only the 5R55S for the AJ V8 was so expensive to rebuild/replace (or any 5R55 trans)
i was almost wondering if it would be possible to put the ZF 6-speed auto Jag used in place of it, but...
oh no it engages 5th gear fine, its just 4th that it hardshifts into and 3rd gear is just odd with its almost double shifting it feels lol. manually shifting or going from D4 to D5 doesn't seem to make much of any difference either. at first i couldn't shift into 4th manually but then i could...
farthest i've driven it in one trip is about 30-40 miles, and i can say once it warms up shifting into 4th does not get better, it feels better when its cold. if anything it acts more confused and hesitant after a while of driving.
that's what i was worried about, i had originally bought the car as a drift car or project car or even to flip but i kinda fell in love with it, but i do miss having a manual and this is turning out to have all the common/expensive issues lol finding out why the car ended up at auction now...
it seems like when it shifts into 3rd gear it also locks up the torque converter and then unlocks immediately after, and it delays/jerks/hardshifts into 4th almost no matter what (except under WOT or very very light throttle) and occasionally is rough when shifting to reverse, or has a delay...
thanks all for the responses, i've decided to start buying parts as i need to finish getting it legal in my name anyways, so ill just work at it until i have everything i need. i've wanted one of these cars for a while and i wish mine was a better example and i wish the last owner was better but...
Hello, I’m new to this forum with my 2004 Lincoln LS V8 I’ve recently acquired. However it’s got a cooling system leak that I can’t seem to find. I want to take the car on about a 3 hour road trip in a couple weeks and wanna get it fixed for that. It holds water for about a day or day and a half...
