Thanks. I should have mentioned that the fluid smells like it does in the bottle. No burnt smell or discoloration. Fluid level is good too. Doesn't appear to be leaking anywhere.
97 Mark viii base.
This happened while on the freeway today. Driving at 80mph. Took my foot off the gas. Normally the rpm falls to about idle, but this time it's like the transmission was down shifting. With my foot off the gas, the engine revved to about 3k and the Trans was engaged so...
Also it appears I need a "relay harness" because the car has auto-magic headlights. Is this correct? Their harness costs $22. Whatever. I just want to make sure I get everything I need.
My passenger side low beam burned out. It's the original 9500 HID bulb. Dang it.
High beam still works.
So here I am looking for a conversion kit. I've read reviews of Xentec and Kensun kits. People seem to like Kensun better.
And I think I need a 9006 HID kit for this car. Kensun...
Ok I got it turned over. It's funny that on the washer it says, "THIS SIDE OUT". Of course I ignored that the first time.
I did put the other side on correctly though. :) How does this look?
So I just replaced my SRBs and figured I'd post a pic. Does this look weird to anyone? It seems like it's taller than most of the ones I've seen. I torqued everything to spec though.
dang all of you have really nice cars! I'm not going to post a pic of mine cuz it's just ugly in comparison. That's not to say anything bad about it. ;) It just wouldn't win a beauty contest next to these other cars.
I like the one just above with the tractor in the background. One of...
I went and looked under the car again, and that is exactly what my car looks like!
I've also got oil all over the K-member, the oil pan is covered in it, and the transmission pan. I'm going to start by replacing my valve cover gaskets. And maybe the oil pan gasket. But I understand both of...
I know I need to change the valve cover gaskets because there's oil accumulating in the spark plug holes and a little bit of seepage from the valve covers directly. The K-member has oil all over it, and I occasionally smell burning oil when I get out of the car. So something is dripping onto...
I just did this job over the weekend. Dang. The car had the original sleeves, and I had to cut them out with an angle grinder because they wouldn't separate. They were riveted.
The torque spec for the front strut rod is somewhere in the range of 100 ft-lb, but the scary thing was that when I...
I just did this job on my 97 Mark this past weekend, and it was a PAIN. To replace the front strut rod bushings I had to cut out the original sleeve with an angle grinder because it's 1 piece (seemed like the sleeve was rivited on the front side). I don't know if all the Marks came that way...
thanks Spree - I just sent you a PM. Will be happy to take them off your hands!
Do you happen to have any parts for the light bar in the back? Mine is dead - don't know what all I have to replace yet.
I'm working on changing my strut rod bushings. The chassis-end buhings look OK to me, but I'd rather change all of them at the same time to avoid having to take it apart again in 6 months.
I've managed to find new OEM bushings for both ends of the rods, but of course can't find the sleeves...
Ok I'm reading more about this job - how bad is it? It sounds like it's not too terrible.
- I live in California (the car has never been out of this state). Would it be ok to re-use the original sleeves? I'm guessing they can be reused if they are not rusted?
- The bushings at the K member...
I just recently put StrutMasters on all 4 wheels of my 97 Mark. I've got about 11k on them now and so far so good. They are soft in the front - certainly much softer than the original air suspension. But they are quiet - no creaking or squeaking noises. I got the StrutMasters because of the...
