I believe on the northstar's it should sit in the middle of the range not all the way to the top line. I just got a 03 deville myself but from what I've read going over the recommend 7.5 often causes oil consumption.
Its 20 cents more per gallon for premium, cmon. Yes it has knock sensors which can compensate for regular, though it does so by retarding timing. Which can often result in lower mpg, higher emmisions and less power. Even then many still knock. In addition very often the oil consumption on...
I now own the car, checked and cleared the codes, only drove a few miles but so far the check engine light hasn't tripped again. However I have a warning to check coolant level, I figured it was just low. However I checked and the coolant is nearly to the top of the resevoir. Does anybody...
2003 Deville warning problem?
P0386. And p0340. Its for the camshaft and crankshaft sensor. I'm looking at buying the car and wasn't sure if this was a big or expensive problem to worry about. The seller says he thinks it came up after he had the battery replaced.
Finally got ahold of superchips all they said was it wouldn't even try to tune if the code didn't match. I did finally get the codes i was getting thrown (both front 02's) and p1000 since it couldn't learn because of the 02 codes) to go away. Sealed a small exhaust leak between 1 of the cats...
Ok i'll try cleaning the maf today, ill take a look to see if a pin got bent plugging the inertia switch back in. Though i don't have a meter to actually check it but it does cut off fuel when unplugged so im thinking it may be the fpdm module. But I may end up taking it to the dealer since i...
I have codes P1000, P1234 and P0174 now after clearing my codes they re-appeared after about 150 miles of driving. Before this I had cleared the DTC's after getting P0174 & P0171. I thought the 0171&0174 were o2 codes usually thrown by a vacume leak or dirty maf and the P1234 was a fuel relay or...
I would like to get a sct tune there is a dealer in my area with a dyno who does custom tunes, mostly on fords as well as performance suspension gearing etc... Only reason I went this route is thanks to the lovely weather and a dodge pickup I now need a new windshield and some bodywork from the...
Went back to stock program for now. I found another who had the exact same problem on a 97 conti and after a reburn of the tuner at superchips worked fine so hopefully the same should work for me. Only thing i'm wondering is how much if any charge to reburn since i'm not the original owner.
I had to set mine back to stock which unlocks the tuner for other compatible vehicles again for now and had to contact superchips. I added msd coils so it may be causing a problem for me. If you floor it off the line or up till round 30 or so it laggs then revvs unevenly to about 5k or so then...
Wow i hope you're thick headed because if you're like this in real life i'm sure you get a bat swung at you about every other day. I guess you're quote says it all so all I can say is if i were lost in the desert I would rather die than simply ask you which way to go. Also no need to blaspheme.
Wow way overly hostile all I was saying is what superchips said is that it scans your pcm through its database if your code is not in it the scanner tells you error and says to send in for update. I understand about catch codes what you mean but I know of several people with this scanner who...
It scans it and checks that and vin when you connect it and locks to that for tuning then you can use it for diagnostic on the 96-03 ford 4.6 for diagnostic. I tried changing the 1-2 shift back to stock and leaving the others how the superchips performance tune is set since that is where it...
Just got this tuner and i am getting a p1000 code which i believe is due to needing to be driven since resetting the pcm. However I did drive it maybe a mile or so after the tune and it seems to be shifting odd when going 3-2 downshifting and if you a bit heavier on the throttle up to about 50...
I have a 1997 continental however someone thought it wouldn't be noticed to include a 1996 manual. Problem is the high current fuses are not the same and the fuel pump which I need to disconnect is not listed on the lid. Would removing the connector for the fuel pump cutoff in the trunk work...
Thanks for the tip just got one on ebay using paypay for 125 checked to be sure he had returned to stock so it wasn't vin locked which he did. Can't wait to get it hoping to help the shifting mainly as well as a bit of hp/mpg kick. Also nice to be able to scan and clear codes myself.
