How to wire LED tail lights

*7 years later...lol* I just did this with my tail lights, used 2 10w 100ohm resistors, exactly as the diagram shows, the lights work as they should, and i dont get "check brake lights" but i still get "check tail lights" warning message. i have a gen 2 2005 LS Sport. I used these bulbs and...

CHMSL (third brake light) not working--fuses, bulbs, brake switch seem good

Hello, all. Let me start my first post with the obligatory "I searched, but..." Seriously, I've spent a while trying to figure this one out, so I'll apologize now if I overlooked something obvious on the site. I've owned a number of MN12 T-Birds over the years--two SCs and two 4.6 cars. This...

Please Help. 1998 Lincoln Mark Viii lowbeam conversion

Keep in mind unlike the high beam, the low beam housing has a chromed plastic diffusion cup over the OEM HID bulb. I'm going to guess a Halogen bulb will destroy the reflectivity of that cup pretty quick with the incredible heat they generate. The LED emitter is probably the coolest of the 3 as...

Please Help. 1998 Lincoln Mark Viii lowbeam conversion

So you had already converted the factory HIDs to halogens? I saw a post somewhere on the internet with step by step instructions on how to convert to halogens, I've just never understood the appeal to halogens other than the bulbs being found everywhere and much cheaper. Lack of lighting quality...

Please Help. 1998 Lincoln Mark Viii lowbeam conversion

Well I didn't do it the best way, They are not sealed in. I made a metal fork and drilled a hole in it where there was an existing screw hole on the housing. Bent it so when I tightened the screw down it pushes and holds them in. I don't no how hot they really get, but the bulbs have a heatsink...

Please Help. 1998 Lincoln Mark Viii lowbeam conversion

Notice the big red flag that waves where it dosent say...... "for low beam". Maybe this can some how be rigged to work in the high beam that has no issues with drop in bulbs. But if you understand the way the low beam housing is designed, you would instantly know these folks know zero about the...

6/12/21 Checking the DDM web sight and the link to it above actualy shows that DDM has now ditched the slim line ballasts and has their own version of the AC ballasts I put the Ebay link to. Looks like DDM is the only real choice the car has for low beams. I bought a pair of Morimoto bulbs...

    From what I understand

The LED bulbs dont require any ballasts, I believe they run right off the 12v power as you originally suspected. My basic outline and suggestion to put Low beams back into your car are, Cut the power wires leading into the OEM ballasts. Solder a connector onto that power lead to feed this...

    From what I understand

So it would be better to install a ballast long with an LED bulb correct? I don't have a problem with a ballast I just don't want to spend some money and have short longevity. Thank you both for the response. I'll go with the ballasts.......Bruce L Hansen.....Senior Citizen.....Alive by the...

    From what I understand

I thought about the LED's also when I looked into fixing my low beams. The big problem I see with that is they generate alot of heat and they would take up alot of room inside the plastic shell that keeps the bulb assembly and internal light housing from weather intrusion. So, that creates 2...

Hate to say it, but I dont think anyone is making the adapters any more. I looked hi n low for them last year when I was forced to make the adapters up my self like slowMK suggests. I did however create a how to article that if you copy it and take your old bulbs to someone with a lathe, they...

What's up my beautiful lincoln people, having a hard time getting a hold of anyone who made/sold the lowbeam HID conversion kits and one of my factory bulbs just went. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone knows where to find a good HID to HID conversion kit. Thanks and much love. 1998...

The only time I get a "check Headlight" on the read out is if one of the bulbs fail to light when I manually turn the light switch to on. Some of my reading suggested you need a can bus to have the auto light turn on properly to keep the warning off. IDK about that since I never use the auto...

The write up is primarily aimed at 97-98 MKVIII's. I think the 96 used basic plug in Halogens bulbs widely available. Do your low beam bulbs have a large square box attached like in the first picture? Regardless, the "kits" have plenty of wire to splice into the OEM harness wire where they go...
