How do you know when the balancer needs to be replaced? I've never had to replace one before... as far as I know.

I'm using NGK Iridium plugs. Probably don't last as long, but they will give you a more controlled spark than these other types. Avoid anything like E3 and Bosch's 4 prong crap.
