I'm glad you had good service from the plastic cooling parts and improvising an override fan swirch. The thermostat retaining ear can be reinforced with a countersunk 4-40 screws which seal fine with a #42 drill. As for the plastic cooling parts they're all 6061 aluminum now. When the mystery...
Go invest in a Fluke infra-red thermometer and point it at the exhaust manifold covers when fully warmed up. I'll find those two locations are the hottest parts in the engine bay. The manifold covers have one mica sheet sandwiched by two aluminum shells that are to shield the heat method. That...
Well you might not have considered the metal wear that is present in the transmission oil can affect the complex assemblies within the case. Have you considered chromium contained within the gears, shafts, ete for instance becomes magnetic say above 38°C or 100°F. Chexk it out. Or coarse the oil...
The article discussed particulate matter that is wear initially very high in the early life of automatic transmissions. Please read multiple times to understand what are the degrading factors that cause failure of the internal parts.
This is what I end up curing the mystery leak with a steel braided hose with a pek clamp.the routing not seen is atrached to the ds cover threaded holes to hold then on to the throttle heater input line. The hose is a ten to fifteen minutes effort.
Liquid, the thermostat housing was the last of the plastic to 6061 conversion. I do believe that part is in the long list the machinist is working on. He has the Motorcraft thermostat parts bag to ensure proper fitment. The DCCV for the heater core control hasn'tever leaked but moght ask him...
The facts here of owning a twenty plus year old car certain conditions arise such as corrosion in the harness and connectors. The deterioration of the protective slip on plastic cover tend to break apart when moved from the installed position. A project restoring the engine harness branch...
Yes, i have a machinist make three sets on the engine cooling tubes rad to thermostat return and two degas tanks. They are the answer to highway maintenance issues. Currently the thermostat housing iz being made. He also added a reverse cone filled with the same elastomer as the trans mount on...
If the erratic shiftng is the isssue i would try a few things that are simple & inexpensive to do. I found draining the trans pan oil three to four times with a new filter. I've found at the third drain mercon V the shifting improved quite noticeably near new condition. A thousand or two miles...
One weakness of long time service i saw was the engine ventilation of the snap o-ring hose connectors. The materials are high temp tolerate but does it maintain a seal over long term? One other issue was the oil mist collection in the intake manifold. A catch can is the device that seperates the...
Well when disassemblying came the oe gaskets crumbled in my hands, thus whole gasket set replacement which lasted from ~225k to 492k without a leak. I use 1500 grit sandpaper to remove the aluminum oxide just before applying the creamy Ultra Blue silicone. I find this method works without fail.
