Charging system on 2000 LIncoln LS V8

I'm assuming I'll need basic stuff -- sockets, a torque wrench, screw drivers, jack stands and patience. Is there anything else I should have. Hoping to have a mechanic help once alternator gets here, but I might do some of the preliminary stuff myself just to get my hands dirty. Appreciate...

Charging system on 2000 LIncoln LS V8

That's good point. Once I 'retire' I want to try my hand at restoring this car to some semblance of glory. That's when I'm not wanting to blow it up. This is a great site, by the way. I'm envious of some of the LS's I've seen photos of on here. One day, perhaps.

Charging system on 2000 LIncoln LS V8

Thanks. I appreciate that. Have you (or has anyone else on this board) ever dealt with Rock Auto? They're about $30 cheaper than Ford Parts Giant when you add in shipping, but I don't want to save money and wind up having other issues.

Charging system on 2000 LIncoln LS V8

Think I'm going to order one and have a mechanic buddy help me with it, but internet keeps trying to sell me aftermarket brands. Amazon tells me the Motorcraft alternators won't fit my car.

Charging system on 2000 LIncoln LS V8

Good to know. Thanks. I've had my LS several years, seems about every 6-8 months something or other goes wrong. Still love the car, and I reckon fixing it is cheaper than a monthly car payment. Thanks to all for the help.

Charging system on 2000 LIncoln LS V8

Don't post here often and didn't want to start a new thread, but can't find anything after quick search. I've got 2000 Lincoln LS V8. Battery died, I thought it was bad, took it out and took it to parts place; they tested, said it was ok. I charged it back up put it back in car and drove...

    little help regarding dashboard

Just saw this. I appreciate the ideas. Unfortunately, I can only feel the ring with the tip of my fingers and so far nothing I've tried has worked. I've already bought backup ring and wife understands my first ring may now be a part of the car until either the windshield is replaced or it's...

    little help regarding dashboard

Just saw that this is how you can reply to a thread without replying to each individual post. My thanks to all for the suggestions. Jeff

    little help regarding dashboard

Thanks. Might go that route if the tape trick doesn't work, since it seems preferable to taking the entire car apart. I came close to fishing it out with a long screwdriver after I posted here, so there's hope I won't have to replace windshield or hire a squirrel to climb up through the cabin...

Actually, that's not a bad idea. Thanks.

    little help regarding dashboard

I have a Lincoln 2000 LS --- and I have an issue. My wedding ring slipped off my hand while I was tapping the dash, slid down and is now stuck between the windshield and dash where the two meet. Not enough room there for me to get a tool in to get the ring, and I've tried a couple things. Wife...
