The rubber seals of the coils might not properly be seated or snug. I used to have a constant misfire on cyl 6 whenever it rained a good amount until I replaced it. I think your problem is very well moisture related and would double check the seals and that they are genuine motorcraft replacements!

I got the crackling too. Also when I close the door with window down you can hear the window rattle back and fourth. I just ordered the dorman replacement from Amazon. Confirmed the part number. Was $42 for gen2 passenger side (RH) not too bad if you ask me!!
