The 5 star crash ratings were an important part of my decision to buy her. I was able to walk away but still had to make a trip to the hospital since I got my bell rung.
It was a solid hit. He was accelerating when he hit me as we were in stop ad go traffic and he had left a sizeable gap. I watched the impact as I had looked in the mirror. Still had his foot on the gas after impact and hit me hard a second time.
Good dependable ride is gone. Only recall being...
Time for me to move on. Rear ended Monday evening on the way home from work.Insurance adjuster confirmed it is a total loss. Hard to say goodbye after 16 1/2 years. Bought her at 6mi on the odometer and was targeting to keep her at least another year.
I did keep the weather tech window...
Had a new windshield installed today. Drove through a debris field on the interstate last week, I think it once had been a sofa.
Fortunately only damage was the windshield.
My engine cut outs in 2006 were due to a failing fuel pump at age 4. Repeated individual cut outs of 1-2 seconds in duration until it just finally gave up the ghost one day right after exiting the interstate.
Unlike COP misfires, these cut outs were long enough for the engine to stall once while...
Rigs,
Thanks for putting this together.
I lost the degas bottle a few years ago and have been expecting the next failure to occur soon. Have had her 15 years with 98k mi. May do a proactive overhaul before winter gets here.
Definitely agree the marketing was poor for the LS. The initial TV commercials were attention getters but it appeared to me that buying TV commercial time was the only way the marketing team knew how to spend their budget. I was 35 and in the target age group when I bought my 02 and LS marketing...
Had to have my drivers seat wiring replaced under warranty in my Gen1. Harness was damaged at the Wixom factory during seat installation. Common Gen1 issue.
The repeating warning chime is incredibly annoying. Hope you get it resolved soon.
Did Ford significantly increase the prices for the Gen2 over the Gen 1? I never considered a Gen2 so I did not pay attention to pricing.
I did considerable research before I purchased my 02 V8 Sport and there were no comparably equipped German or Japanese vehicles in the same price class as the...
Great thread, thanks for the effort to post all these.
Out of curiosity, I like to see either Gen but it's probably just harder to find Gen1s worth posting. Many of the one I see in our area are ragged out.
Looks like that will work.
Sounds like you had misfires similar to mine. My random misfired would occur more frequently when the engine heated up under extended loads. Going up the 75 cut in the hill out of Covington in 3rd or 4th to stay in the power band was the most frequent location...
If I can get a few years out of them then they will have been worth the $. They are a hard plastic and the OEMs appear to be nylon.
Since the window mechanism was still working, I didn't want the cables to come off the pulleys which is why I loosely clamped the vice grips to the cables near...
Solder with heatshrink tubing is the way to go but I would recommend double heatshrink tubing over the heatshrink with electrical tape. If the heatshrink does its job, the tape will serve little purpose except to introduce possible contaminates. Electrical tape and heat do not go together well...
I purchased from regulatorfix. Purchased last Thur evening, shipped from MI on Fri, arrived in KY on Mon. Window operating without creaking for the first time in years.
Clips arrived today so I finished the replacement. Manufacturing source is unknown. May be the ones from Turkey, not marked. SeaPro, were your clips from Turkey grey?
Pic of the clips.
And mandatory stress relief from a local supplier.
Followed the instructions provided in V-8s post for...
