Hey Paul!
Hey Paul,
You forgot to leave your phone number when you left your message about fixing your Eldo. I can't call you back to schedule the job without your phone #. Talk to you soon, I hope!
Is this thread dead?
Actually, the transaxle was first used in the 1966 Olds Toronado and was used up to 1974? in eldos and toros. The only problem I have ever encountered with them is the governor that controls shift points gets sticky after sitting for years and has to be cleaned or replaced...
There are 2 gaskets involved here and I don't know if your mechanic knows that or not. There is a gasket that seals the upper half of the block to the lower half and they are well known to seep oil. That gasket is $30 and labor is 15.7 hours or $628 at $40/hr (my rate) The engine must be removed...

Greetings and congratulations!
WWW.cadillacforums.com has many links to vendors as well as discussions about performance parts and mods. There aren't as many northstar engine parts available as there are lincoln parts but you can mod these engines. In fact, one of the caddilacforums...
So the buttons on the dash aren't functioning?Do you have any IPC codes stored in the diagnostics? Did you check for power at the switches? Did you try jumpering the relays to get the openers to work?
Please post what exactly has been done to the car so far. There are a few aftermarket options which will save you money but I have never heard of a strut making a creaking sound. The strut top plate could, but that can be replaced without putting a new strut in. Creaking is more the sound of a...
In a word,Yes! But don't let it bother you,us caddy fans can have nice quiet conversations here anyway. If you look at how many are viewing the lincoln side and the caddy side you will see its about 180 to 18 or approx. 10 to 1. The idea of lincoln vs cadillac is a good one and if more on the...
First you should bring it to a shop with a scan tool and pull any codes that are in the system. It may need to have codes cleared before it will function again. Then report back and we'll figure it from there.
Ok, this is from the website www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/0-60times.html
1993 mark VIII 7.1 0-60, 15.4 quarter mile
1993 eldo ETC 6.7 0-60, 15.0 quarter mile
These guys say the caddy is faster than the lincoln.
I personally think the best thing about the lincoln is the front air...
If the caliper piston has a solid front face with 2 notches in it you will have to turn the piston clockwise to retract it into the caliper. When you put the new pads in the notches in the caliper piston MUST line up with 2 pins on the back of the pad.
If you take a hole saw and drill holes through the sides of the frame about every 2 inches down the whole length of the car it will shave another 50 lbs off the weight. Also, the power seats are heavy so if you replace them with ones out of a civic you should save another 200lbs. Now that I think...
Yeah, it was the 4.9 I was quoting, not the N*. Of course if he has a 1990 eldo with a N* it's not a factory job anyway so it would be a time and materials job! (gotta cover my butt):D
If the crank sensors have already been replaced you should never have to worry about them again. It's just possible that the person who leased it took bad care of it and you had to iron out some problems left by the previous driver. I agree that you should at least run out the extended warranty...
Ok, here's how it goes. After you push 'off' and 'warmer' it goes through all the stored codes then asks 'PCM?' The fan higher and lower buttons are yes and no.
Lo means no and HI means yes so if you have an IPC code and no PCM codes you would answer no to 'PCM?' and then it will ask 'IPC?' you...
I may just be the only caddy in a sea of lincolns in Boscobel but at least i'll get lots of practise at the 'lincoln' wave ! LOL! Seriousy, I would love to take my 61 caddy convertible to the meet if it is ready by then but the 93 eldorado N* will be a good second choice.
