I have a 2000 ls v8 i changed my valve covers because of an oil leak and the spark plug holes were all filled up with oil when i removed the spark plugs all the oil whent into the cylender makeing the car smoke very bad for a couple of minutes after starting once it quit smoking the car started...

I had the same problem with my ls. It took three repaire shops to figure it out. what it ended up being a bad tourque convertor. the reason you hear it out of the intake is because its open under the end take so the noise travels up. Spreading the good word hope this helps. 2000 ls owner
