1990 Cadillac Eldorado ETC

General Description

Three exceptional achievements made in 1990 by Cadillac, re-established the companies reputation by major improvment in customer service, employee satisfaction and market share. Customer service was recognized as best in the industry by the prestigious Malcolm Baldridge Quality Program as best in the industry. Baldridge performed extensive surveys and analyses of complaints handled by a special 24-hour Customer Relations Center. Their findings was based upon three key measures -- satisfaction with cars, service, and total ownership experience -- 1985 customers rated Cadillac at about 70 percent. In 1989, Cadillac's scores in all three categories were 86 percent or better.
Employee satisfaction levels soared as Cadillac introduced it’s "people strategy" program designed for improving the effectiveness and job satisfaction of hourly and salaried employees' efforts. The program emphasized quality improvement, leadership skills, process modeling, statistical methods, and health and safety. Cadillac innovative program and its immediate success were soon adopted by other fortune 500 companies.
The third key achievement was improved market share, 2.8% and overall sales. Cadillac sold 258,168 automobiles during the 1990 calendar year. Eldorado sales were 13,610 total units. This included 7174 Biarritz and 1507 touring coupes. I am the proud owner of one of the 1507.
