1987 Dodge Omni Turbo

General Description

This is my 1987 Omni. It started off as a caburated model that I converted to a draw through un-intercooled turbo. I am in the process of converting it to a blowthrough intercooled turbo now. It went a 14.8@92mph at 12 psi of toasty warm air at 9.5:1 compresssion ratio and street gas. It doesn't sound like much but thats beyond a safe boost pressure considering all the other variables. It should be safe for about 22psi on street gas as soon as the rest of my parts show up, so watch out if you see a red omni!

12-06, New setup is in and running for the past few months. I'm running ~18psi of boost right now as I'm out of turbocharger. With this setup the car has gone 13.3 @ 104 with a crappy 2.4s 60'. The car easily has 12 second potential which may be achieved as I've installed a new transaxle with much higher gearing to take advantage of the monster torque this little engine produces.

Sometimes things don't always agree with abuse so I've included a few pics of weak points I have found...

Next season will tell, Thanks for looking.

I'm diggin' the Omni man! I have a lot of repect for the turbo Omni. They were ahead of their time. How much power?

That's awesome. My dad had an 89 Omni and that thing was falling apart everywhere. But to see you turn one into such a beast warms the heart! :)

OO, I forgot about this gallery. I need to put pictures in of the new setup, approx 250whp 300ft-lbs. So far is run 13.3's @ 104mph...
