00 V6 burning oil?

Hey Y'all,


I have a 00 V6 that is starting to burn oil, car has about 128K on it (I have had it since 42K). It's burning about 1 quart every 2,000 miles or so. Any idea's what this could be? I'm seeing a lot of $$$ with this repair. Any advice would be great. The mechanic I have been taking my car to says: not to worry, it's an older car, it's gonna burn oil, etc.

Remove the valve cover and look for oil. I'd place my bets on the valve cover gaskets being the problem. It's possible enough oil can seep down into the spark plug wells and burns up.
