01 rear bumper removal
hey everybody - long time lurker, always love the advice you give so i'm looking for some help. i drive a 2001 lincoln ls v8 - it sucks in the snow and i recently smashed the back end. i'm trying to DIY the damage and am currently in the midst of replacing the back bumper. i am following the directions here

LINK REMOVED / BROKEN (web archive of the LSK directions)

however i cannot for the life of me figure out how to get to those 5 screws under the scruff. they are long screws with bolts around them. i've tried wrenches but they are just in such a weird place. anyone have any suggestions?

thanks so much

are you trying to pull the bumper cover off or the actual bumper?

bumper covers are usually the easiest to remove

http://deneau.info/ls/

left side of the page 5: Body and Paint > 01: Body > SECTION 501-19 Bumpers

then select what you want. The exploded view shows all the bolts and where they are, rear bumper cover gives you step by step directions on removal.

I believe the rivets need to be removed to access the bolts.

hey thanks for getting back to me, i appreciate the help...i believe i am removing the bumper cover. my biggest problem is reaching the screws that are in the circles - what tool should i be using? here are some pictures for reference.
