02' LS Alpine questions...Newbie!!!!

Hey! I just purchased a 2002 LSV8 Sport. Pearl white with gray interior. The car is awesome!!! I've been thinking about putting an aftermarket stereo, but I was told by a car audio shop that I would have to run new wires from the h.u. to the speakers because of the alpine radio. Is this correct? I have the alpine in dash 6 disc and no subwoofers in the deck. I've been searching on here for answers, but I couldn't find what I am looking for. Thank you in advance!

I think theyre wrong, just buy a aftermarket to stock wiring harness for your new stereo and you should be alright. I'd suggest just getting new speakers because the factory ones are garbage!! They're made out of paper and they suck. The subs are just 2 6x9's located on top of the back panel, theyre pretty much useless. I purchased some new speakers, a new HU, and dropped a 12" sub and I couldnt be happier. Sound quality over stock is extremely noticeable. Good luck on your set up.

thanks for the help, I purchased a USA Tech adapter for the MP3, I am going to stay with the factory alpine 6disc cd for now, I'll buy a new head unit in the future. I purchased kenwood execelon 6x8's for the front and new 3.5" as well.
