Are they hard to replace? How expensive? I tried the search but got nothing. Check charging system light came on a couple nights ago. Tried to get home but 1 by 1 things started going out until the truck died. It's gotta be the alternator cause even after jumping it, it will cut right back off.

If the SOHC 5.4 or the DOHC 4.6 is any indication, it's very simple to change the alternator.
It's also worth considering have the alternator rebuilt or repaired by a local, reputable shop. That's the least expensive option.
