04 Aviator Transmission

My wife has an 04 Aviator AWD 127xxx miles and the trans shifts hard in reverse and not all the time. It also hesitates every now and then. Any suggestions?

For what its worth new fluid and a bottle of lubeguard fixed this in my wifes 05.
