Hey all,

I haven't been around lately as the LS has been running spectacularly with 255k miles.

I had the transmission rebuilt a year ago and I had some codes pop up this week:

P0765: Shift Solenoid D
P0768: Shift Solenoid D Electrical
P1717: Shift Solenoid D Inductive Signature

Everything I have reviewed points to these caused by the electrical harness shorting somehow, somewhere.

Is a new transmission harness available? Or do I need to roll the dice on a used one?

Other than Lincolns, Jag S-Types, and Ford Thunderbirds (of course with the correct model years), what other vehicles might have a harness that is compatible?

Actually, I'd be very surprised if a Jaguar harness would work for a 1st gen LS, but for yours in particular, the 2nd gen S-type did not use the same transmission as the 2nd gen LS.
I think that used LS and maybe used Thunderbird (2nd gen only) are your only possibilities. Also, don't completely ignore the possibility that it actually is the solenoid assembly in the transmission. I guess there is also a tiny chance that it could be the PCM itself, but usually that doesn't trigger any codes.

The solenoid was replaced with the rebuilt transmission last year. I haven't crawled underneath yet to make sure everything is secure and wires aren't compromised.

I understand that, but sometimes (rarely), things fail way too soon. I once bought a new TV that failed in less than a week.

Wanted to get back with an update:

Took it to the shop that rebuilt my transmission a year ago...it was the solenoid that I had provided them that supposedly had a lifetime warranty. Well, it did until the business goes under. I found another one here locally and now it shifts better than it did right after the rebuild. And, the best part...

The transmission shop didn't charge me anything. He said, "You went and got the part, all we did was put it in."

Definitely going to double recommend them!
