Just bought an 06 with 50000 on her 2 months ago. After driving a month the driver side headlight went out. Had the HID so i replaced with a d2r and it worked for about 4 minutes, then shut off. So I replaced the ballast and still the same 3-4 minute shut off. Tried to search for similar problems I just kept getting posts about auto lights not turning off.

Do you have the OEM factory HIDs, or is this where someone put aftermarket HIDs in the halogen assembly. Factory HIDs should have yellow stickers on the tops of the headlight assemblies, and the ballasts are a part of the headlight assembly, on the bottom. Need to know what you have to really help. (Given the price and availability of factory ballasts, it makes me think you have aftermarket...)
No it is all OEM, and I replaced the ballast with the same that was in it. I did buy the bulb off of a aftermarket HID site.

Where did you find the ballast, if I may ask? You may have to get the OEM bulb.
You can, as a troubleshooting step, swap the ballast between the two headlights. Does the problem move with the ballast, or stay on the side it is on? If it stays, then try swapping the bulbs.
