So that was great. I test drive the car, last week, doing fine. Buy it yesterday and end up driving it back home after they fixed some things on it, I get it about 15 miles away from the dealer and I smell coolant, I'm thinking "that BETTER be the car in front of me..." then I hear a belt squeaking and think "THAT had *really* better be the car in front of me..." And so I get back on another highway and nope, it's me... squeaking and spraying coolant.

Take it to a buddy's shop and he finds the problem. Turns out someone did some work and didn't properly resecure the (heater control valve?) coolant lines towards the bottom passenger side of the engine, and it was rubbing up against some parts in the engine bay.

And so, at 1:00 today it goes on a tow truck for the 25 mile journey back to the dealer to get fixed. Great. Oh well, I got a 2 year, 36,000 mile extended warranty on the car. Can't beat that.

For something that they messed up on and wasn't a random problem I'd be trying to get something out of them. I don't think fixing the car the way it should have been done the first time is a real solution to the problem, they owe you.

It ain't exactly a place I want to take it to get it serviced. It's in a decent area, but they don't have the nicest cars, theirs typically go for around the $6000 area it looked like. Any service I have done will be done by a buddy of mine who owns a shop (DJ's Auto) right here in Madison Heights, he does great work.

well then get them to give you a cheap car for free for the winter time and put that up or osmthing

I had something like that happen to my when I bought a 96 t-bird back in 2000. I left the dealer picked up a few friends to show it off and the car starts over heating I pull over and pop the hood and there is coolant everywhere. Turns out the dealership never replaced the plastic intake even though there records showed that it had been in for the recall go figure.

C'mon guys! Everyone makes mistakes from time to time...and you are no different. How would you feel if someone tried to stick it to you everytime you made a mistake? They made a mistake...and they are taking care of it.
