Rare Mark VIII

1993 Lincoln Mark VIII

This vehicle has had only one owner and was bought new at the dealership. Yes, all the miles are original and so is everything else on the car;including tires, rims paint, engine, etc... The car is in showroom condition with no scratches, dings or defects. The car was always garaged, it has never been out in the rain or snow, it was never smoked in and has never benn in an accident. The car's oil was changed every year since new with Mobil 1 oil and was started and ran at least once a week. The car will come with (2) original factory stickers, the owner's manual, the cellphone manual, the bill of sale and (2) factory sets of keys with remotes. The underbody of the car is clean and completely free of rust. The front seats are in excellent condition and so is the back seat. The back seat was rarely used.

I saw that Mark on Ebay. I don't think it is worth the price. Even for a car that hasn't been driven a lot for 13 years will still have some deterioration. I can't see myself dishing out that much.

whomever is bidding that much is nuts. I have seen 20-30ks go the last few weeks for half that much. A couple were Florida cars. Infact that was on there before.....a month ago. Wonder if someone bought it and is reselling or if the guy had the reserve set that high.

Its been on ebay 4-5 times now. They never get their bid, and havent got the hint yet.

10k miles but, they want too much, especially for a 93. A 98 with 10k maybe.

This guy is forgetting one simple concept: DESIRABILITY.

Even when new, there was never any "rage" for the Mark VII, and it has since been replaced by a second generation that corrected some very serious flaws.

All people are going to see, is a 14 year old American car.

But this is al psychological. He purchased the car new, paid a lot of moey for it, never got any real use out of it, and now he just can't let it go for a reasonable price, because he will take nothing but a huge loss.

I don't care of he started it every 10K or not. Thee is no way in hell that car is in showroom shape. 10k miles on the road, and 14 years can do a lot to a car.

Its worth it people! You all have to be crazy to think otherwise! Regardless of the year, Its an extremely nice car! With very low miles! If I had the money, id buy it. Just think, thats a good deal, most newer cars go for 15k with 50k+ miles.

That car is 14 years old, ad it has 10K miles on it. Sorry, but I don't see anything to back up that price. Especially as you still have to deal with all of the Gen1 problems to top it all off.

I disagree. The car is just too old. A Mark with this less amount of miles Blue Books for $3350. Any dealer will give you a lot less than that.

One thing you are not looking at is, lets say you buy this car for $15K. You put full coverage insurance on it. Then you get hit. Insurance will total the car because of the Blue Book price. All they would pay is $3350. Leaving you a negative of over $11K. Not worth it at all.

i would rather buy a LS for that price.

Yeah, but then you'd be stuck with an LS.

The justification for the high price must be the speculation that this will be a classic.

Other than the headlights and some transmission refinement, what real "corrections" were made between the 93 and the 98?

Damn my 93 just turned 5k and is factory supercharged and Walt and I only paid 25k!! This guy is smokin' da goods for sure.

I'm a bit concerned about provenance..... 1. Black interiors always look like new.... 2. Were the turbine wheels even offered in chrome in 1993? I thought the only wheel offered was the 'flake....

Somebody....TELL me!

These wheels were original on my '93...

The whole body, and a better interior and the engine?

Its not a classic yet so the 15K would be better spent buying a 3K Mark8 and upgrading it to the max ..

No way, no how, is that car worth it. I don't care if it has 5 miles on it. With the HP of cars today....................it will never, ever make even close to that in the future. Not a good investment today or 20 years from now. Better suited to buy on for 3K and build it to the max as already listed. Whomever selling it, is definately smoking or sniffing, some funny stuff. And as mentioned, a wreck and you are out $12000!!! Not for me. I just bought a 93 with 68k for 5k. And that was a little much. But with the miles, I consoled myself on that. But for 3 times as much with 10k miles..............no way. $8000 would be a good deal...........maybe........but $15k..............NO way!

sorry for bringing back a dead post. but, regarding the "and more" article, i was suprised to see bob tasca's name there. its funny because i now work for him at tasca, as a mechanic. i had no idea he was into the old marks until the other daw i saw him roll past me in a gen1 mark, ivory pearl, just like mine, with a totally badass, front bumper. scoop, driving lights, the whole bit. unfortunately i couldnt get a good pic of this car but it was awsome. after reading this article, and seeing him still driving a mark viii, with his mustang collection, and all the other cars, and money he has, is so cool to see him driving a mark viii.
