hello
I recently bought a 1993 VIII and when I got it the headlights were not working I took it to a garage and they got the lights working (i think they just put the fuse in) but they will not turn off even when the engine is off the lights are still on i have to open the hood and take the fuse in/out to work the lights The garage tried changing the light switch but the same thing happened they told me to go to a lincoln dealership because they did not know how to fix it anybody here know what the problem is?

couple more questions the temp guage in the car is not working and the check engine light comes on when I drive up hills then goes off when the road is flat again any ideas on fixes?
thanks

there are 2 dials on the left side where the knob for your headlights are. look for the one called "auto dim"?( i can not remember the acutal name) move the dial, up! (oh god i can not remember if it is up or down...lol i am all screwed up today!) either way you will figure it out. if that is not the answer, maybe something else is going on! just keep us posted. :Beer

You will see in that pic that it is called Auto Lamp. What you want to do is roll that switch down to disengage the Auto Lamp.....the farther it is rolled up the longer the lights will stay on after shutting the car down. If you roll it all the way down it will click (sorta, you will feel it not hear it) and that shuts the Auto Lamps off.

As far as your CEL (check engine light) it might be the O2 sensors that are causing a lean condition when you go up a hill. They are relatively cheap to replace so it might not be a bad idea to change them. That might help.

I turned off the auto lamps and the lights are still getting an electric current and staying on when the fuse is in and the engine is off...the mechanic mentioned something about the anti-theft system might be afecting them?? they tried changing out the lighting switch twice and it did not turn them off.

what sucks is I bought the car in the states and brought it back to canada so I have to send the car through a safety inspection before I can get insurance if it fails I have to send the car back to the states.

looks like the lincoln dealership might be my only hope
