Need your help oh wise ones.

I was taking the rear wheels of the car when i noticed there was a lot about 2mm of play in the shaft (eg, the wheel moves in and out by 3mm or so.) on both wheels.

I have done all of the searching I can and found it maximum should be 0.762mm for axel shaft end play. Mines a bit out of that spec!!!

Can anyone point me in the right direction on fixing this, what may have worn and needs replacing, and I can work the rest out hopefully.

I love my TC but over here, expertise is very limited.

Please help, I want her back on the road but I dont want to find the drive shaft dropping out!!!

Thanks alot in advance.

No it's supposed to be that way.

The problem is....

How do I prove it...

Can anyone point me towards a lincoln document that will prove that 2mm movement is fine.

So is there no way to reduce the slack. I guess I may be able to shim it somehow, just to get through the test.

i was reading the haynes manual and got some advise from the guy that shipped my car.

Do the c clips wear? if so, could that be the reason the movement is more? another thing I saw was that there are O rings, are these basically shims to pack out the axel shaft to take up this excessive slack?

once again, appreciate any help greatly.
