Can the 1999 3.0 engine be used in a later 2003 year ? I just bought two cars. The 2003 has a seized engine, the parts car has a good engine but much an older 1999. Kinda new to the cars but read that the 2003-2006 had differences in how the timing is handled etc. Thanks

Do you really mean the 2000 model year LS? (The year of manufacture is not the same as the model year.) There was no LS before 2000 (or after 2006), or do you mean some other car that used a 3.0 V6? If you mean a 2000 LS, then the answer is not really. (If you mean an engine from something other than an LS or S-Type, then the answer is no, not at all.)

The 1st gen didn't have variable valve timing and it used different sensors. If you swapped all the sensors (and probably the harness), you could probably get it to run, but it wouldn't run well, the check engine light would always be on, and you would loose a noticeable amount of power.

Yeah, I meant the 2000 year sorry. That was what I was afraid of. Looks like a Ebay 2003 engine is in my future. Anyone need a Gen 1 3.0 and trans with 147,000 ? Lol
