With or with out seatbelts on, I thought maybe it was saying passanger airbag off due to no seat belt or weight. The light comes on than blinks for awhile than goes on steady until I shut the car off, any ideas?

Hi, well usually that means your airbags are deactivated, The same thing happens on my town car which previously got in a accident, It did it until i got it reactivated by the dealer. But it might be different for you im not sure since mine is an 03

The dealership can run a check on it to tell you witch sensor is bad. My money would be the contact ring in the steering wheel from dust. But they will let you know exactly which one it is. does the airbag light takes a little bit to come on after you have been driving? If it does next time you start your car up slam once on the steering wheel if the bag light starts flashing right away it's the contacts in the steering wheel. No idea if it can be cleaned or not.

The airbag light will FLASH a lamp fault code.

Carefully count the blinks (first set is the first digit, then a pause, second set of blinks is second digit) and post up the number. From there I can give you the diagnostic procedure.

A failed clockspring is a common cause - horn and cruise buttons work fine?

Do any work near the headlamps or passenger seat lately?
