It finally happend, Ive read alot about how the transmissions in the 2000 LS had problems. I was driving back from New York heading home from Turning Stone Casino , when I pulled up to a toll and the car "kloncked" and stalled. I put it in park and it started right up, put it in drive and it lunged forward and stalled. We pushed it and droped it in drive and it drove and we ended up limping it home. The Check transmission light came on the ride home. Prepared for the worst Im thinking it may need a new transmission having a little over 128K miles. What would be an aproximate cost on a new (or rebuilt) transmission installed? Just looking for a ballpark figure. I love my LS and hope that it wont cost me a ton. Thanks for the help!

hey i live about 40 minutes from turning stone. sorry to hear the tranny man... transmission rebuilds are pricey i'm thinkin in the 2k-3k range. with that many miles it might be time to look for a new LS altogether.

New transmission

2001 v6 92k miles, drive like a little ol lady! New transmission $3500 dealer 3 year 75k mile warranty. Very sorry for your troubles. On the bright side, got my car back in 1 day, runs smooth as silk again. Can't understand why the transmissions fail in the car so often. I never race or anything else that would cause a problem. Just junk transmissions.

Had the same problem.. But I had a transmission fluid leak. Which lead to a broken transmission. DONT DRIVE THE LS anymore till you check if it still has transmission fluid. For reference check this out

I wish i knew this before, but i kept driving my ls till it faild to run.
My local trany shop charged me $1,350 to rebuilt it. Ever since my LS runs beautiful.
