2000 LS, crank no start. Had sat for two months. Ether did not help

I read somewhere (here?) the LS was sensitive to low battery voltage.
It was cranking, seemed fast enough. But I charged it overnight @ 2 amps and the next day it started right up!
So something in the ignition control is non-functional or disabled if the battery voltage is low.

Most newer cars with lots of electronics have the same issue. The battery voltage during starting needs to stay over 9V for everything to work correctly.

What's the gamble? It's a fairly common diagnostic method.

Only once. '53 Oldsmobile back fired into the carburetor while using ether and the 3 foot flame caught the hood insulation on fire.

I even use it to start my diesels, although I acknowledge that IS a gamble if not done correctly.
WD-40 is my new starting fluid for the diesel.
