I purchased a 2000 LS a couple of months ago from a relative... The car set up for some time without being driven routinely...I put a new battery, thermostat & topped off the fluid levels & drove the car 10 straight hours without any problems...A couple of days later it starts "overheating" but the ironic thing is the engine is cool to the touch... My initial thought was the water pump, I've received advice to check the radiator & heater core before replacing the water pump... Certainly appreciative of any suggestions???

You replaced the thermostat and I'm assuming air got in. Click tech articles above and follow the bleed procedure to the letter. If it still happens it may be your degas bottle.
