Looking for easy, unobtrusive modifications to realize some more potential of this 3.9L V8.

I was thinking of getting a K&N, and maybe doing an airbox mod -- much difference?

Anything else that can easily be done?

Cold-Air intake for this model avail?

Looking for ideas.

Thanks,
Bozz

welcome, check out lskoncepts.com. they have it all. also check the tech section for the airbox mod. i did it and u can notice a subtle diff.

Best thing to do cheaply is the airbox mod.

You also have two intake restrictors, which disturbs the path of the intake air flow. They are two black thing hanging off your intake tube. Best thing to do is remove them (dremel or they can be peeled off) and then patch the hole with a flat plastic piece and epoxy. No real HP gain from this, but it will give you a better tone, @ WOT. It's also not noticable if done correctly. There is no true Cold air intake but there are many posts on custom setups to draw cooler air from the front valance. Just do a search many ideas will pop up. Best bang for the buck is the magnaflow exhaust IMO

MagnaFlow Exhaust

How much more noise do you get from the MagnaFlow exhaust? I don't want to turn this thing into a Mustang, I still want it to be a relatively quiet family car til I stomp it.... then I want it to be a Z06 (haha) :D

Thanks for the input, I had thought of doing the exhaust but wasn't sure how much more noise it would make under normal driving.

Thanks,
Bozz

The Exhaust doesn't make alot of noise, I just put mine on yesterday. It does however make it sound like something is there =)

Right now, I'm thinking of the KKM True-Rev Sport Induction Kit. How good is this compared to just putting a K&N filter in?

I assume it'd be better.

Or, to the extreme -- the KKM Cold Air intake with the True-Rev.

I did both K&N and KKM, I have a V6 Manaul and I saw better performance out of the KKM, I also have the exhaust set up as well, You could get away with the K&N and the exhaust and I think you would be very happy with the results. I recommend you have the exhaust tips extend out past the rear valance to help prevent any resinating noise in the cab.

I recommend the LSK Aluminum Intake Tube with the KKM, I sounds incredible when you lean in to it, other wise its like its not even there. I have the Magna-Flow cat -back too, I like it also, don't worry about the noise, its quiet, I wish it was a little louder. Do the intake first, its less money and overall between the 2 mods I like it better and notice it more. Can say for sure which one give more power. Together they work well and have given my car just the attitude it needed.

Thanks for the input guys... probably will do this:

1. Start with the KKM True-Rev setup
2. CAI tube from LSK
3. MagnaFlow Exhaust (if I want more) -- is it necessary to do cat-back or just replace the stock mufflers with Magna's?

dont spend ur money on the KKM True-Rev... just do the airbox mod with K&N filter it should give u just about the same HP gain.

I did the air box mod and then added the KKM unit. The KKM unit will yield better results than the modified air box but the cost is higher. So, it all depends on your budget.

Is it worth the $$$ to get the CAI instead of just doing the True-Rev filter setup?

I don't care about the sound, several have mentioned a cool sound it makes... I care about performance and getting the most bang for the buck.

If it is negligible, then I'm not gonna spend too much money on it. I don't have intentions of doing a bunch of stuff, but if it woke the car up to do a couple reasonable mods... I'd consider it.

Thanks for the help.

most bang for the buck is the air box mod since its free... oh and howmuch differance did u feel GrayGhost1?

I personally feel the full Aluminum Intake tube and KKM are worth the money. The can you "feel it" isn't to accurate and the "push me in the seat" dyno isn't either. My car 1/4 miles faster than stock is suppose to by alot. My only two mods are the intake and exhaust.

Considering I didn't dyno the car when I did the airbox mod I'd only be guessing. However, my "butt dyno" says that the open filter with the intake tube is producing more HP than the open air box. Now, I don't want to debate which is better and so on. This all depends on your budget. If you don't have the money then modifying the air box is your best bet. If you have money to spend on the KKM and intake tube then that will produce much better results.
