Recently brakes began to feel as if they weren't releasing immediately after application. Sometimes they continue to drag for an extended period with a stiffer/higher pedal feel. Replaced pads and rotors, caliper hardware, lubed slides, made sure caliper pistons not seizing, calipers floating normally. Bled all 4 wheels, problem not an internally collapsed brake line. Seems to be all 4 wheels. Any ideas?

The pedal action feels normal. Returns to the stop immediately when released (stop lights go out, etc). The only time the pedal feels different is when the brakes decide to stay applied for an extended period - then the pedal feels firmer than usual with less travel, but still returns to the stop. Usually, though, when the pedal is released it returns normally to the stop, but it takes 3-5 seconds for the calipers to release. Thanks for your input. Really scratching my head.

Let me get this straight, occasionally when you hit your brakes they feel harder than usual, the brake pedal doesn't return immediately, and the brakes just stick engaged for a few seconds? Maybe the pivot point of the pedal needs lubrication. I'm not a pro by any means but I have a basic understanding of cars. Also, did this start happening after you put the new brake hardware on or did you replace it all as a result of this happening?

Edit- read through the post a second and third time to make sure I got all the details, maybe due to the new hardware breaking in the pads stick to the rotors? It sounds like it happens when you're stopped at a stop light, for example.

This is posted on 2 forums and I replied on the other as well. My guess is that it may involve the master cylinder / brake booster. All the other components are either new or already checked.

Is the ABS light on or the brake light? You will need an ABS code reader to find out the code.
Did you do anything with the ABS block??
If you did and it needs to be bled, you will need the fancy code reader that can bleed the pistons in the ABS control block.
