2002 LS8 swap using 2001 engine.

I posted this a couple hours ago and is not showing up on the thread. Anyway....
I have an '02 LS8 with a bad engine. Parts listings show the V8 as 2002 only. The 2000-2001 engines are more readily available and less expensive. I have read that I can use the earlier V-8's. Just wondering (before I spend $1000) if this information is correct and what parts need to be swapped from the newer block.

Look for an engine made between 4/15/01 and the end of 02. Better oiling system as well as metal timing chain guide tensioners instead of plastic. Pre 4/15/01 oil pumps will not work on the 02 block. All else will though.
