Just picked up a beautiful 03 TC with 60k on it. Car is perfect except for a few electrical issues. Thought I'd ask here before jumping into the diagnosis.
-Trunk ajar message does not come on when the trunk is opened and trunk lights do not work. Trunk pull down works fine upon closing. If I ground the negative lead on one bulb they both light up but stay on when trunk is closed (still no message while doing this).
-40 amp Maxi fuse # 104 keeps blowing (rear defogger), defogger works fine for a few seconds then the fuse blows again. Grid and connections appear to be fine.
-No AM reception, pulled antenna lead from small box in headliner and touched it to the rear antenna lead on window and it received AM but not while plugged into the box. Grid looks good here too. There was another unused antenna lead/wire in the headliner which leads me to believe someone has tried to remedy this previously. (tried that lead but it did nothing) This is a factory radio.
I can live without AM but the other issues need to be addressed. I was thinking the trunk latch switch may be the issue for the missing lights and ajar message but why would the pull down work? As for the defog, I'll unplug each heated mirror and the rear window defog one at a time to see which if any is causing the fuse to blow. Not sure if anything else is on that circut.
Any tips or help would be apreciated. Not sure if this is a common issue or not. I've read the TSB's for fixing the rear defrost but they do not apply to my situation as the grid is good.
