2003 LS AC only works on drivers vents??

Hello All

On my wife's 2003 LS V8 the ac was not working. So I had the refrigerant drawn out and the system checked. It was about a pound low. So they filled it back up and the AC works, but only from the vents on the driver’s side of the car. It is split down the middle on the dash. Driver’s side works, the passenger side and the back vents blow hot air. The dual climate is off and even when I lower the passenger side it still blows hot. Any suggestions as to what is causing this?

I just did DATC self test and the only code that came up was 2426. I searched this forum and did not find much on that code. The list of Codes did not have it. I did find it online as "B2426 RH A/C Solar Radiation Sensor Open Circuit" anybody know what that means?

Don't worry about the sun load sensor. It doesn't do much of anything when it does work. (Note that these work well on other Ford/Mercury/Lincoln cars that I have had, but it doesn't seem to do anything on either LS that I have.)
Your DCCV is bad. The DATC diagnostics will only catch this if one or both solenoid coils corrode open or short out. Instead, your passenger side valve has stuck in the open position. At least the self test has confirmed that your wiring to the DCCV should be good. You just need to replace the DCCV.

Thanks! That is what I was planning to do. I will search on here for some tips on how to do it. I have not been to happy working on the LS due to everything being so crammed in there. I think I read where it takes around 2-3 hours. Sounds like you have to take a lot of things off or apart to get to it.

I found a new DCCV at O'Reily's Autoparts. $140.99 for a Motorcraft. I tried searching for a DCCV on some of the websites listed here, but did not find it. I guess I should search under "Heater Control Valve" as that is how O'Reily's has it listed.

Update. Thanks for all of the help. Finally got the DCCV from Rock Auto. $95 shipped to my door. O'Rielly's wanted around $200 for the Motorcraft part. Took my about 2 hours to put it in. I got big hand and it was a beast to work in there. If it was out in the open it would be as easy as putting toilet paper on the dispenser!

How did you get it for 95?

Mine is out all of sudden and I'm about to pull the trigger but it's 122 for the cheap one and that's with the 5% off.

Yea, I have a 2003 and I got it from Rock Auto with the 5% coupon.

GEN I has 5 in/outlet tubes, 2 more than the GEN II.
GEN I DCCV installs directly below the Aux coolant Pump.



If I'm not mistaken there was someone on here not too long ago that boasted about getting a much better price on a GEN I DCCV by ordering it from Jaguar.
If memory serves me correct, DCCV, I thought that's what it was.

Yikes ... a DCCV ... Nooooo, the nightmares!
Still have marks on the inside of my right arm from putting that Fn thing in.

I think it should be easier since the engine will be out of the car. I actually got a deal on the DCCV it's for a 2000 Jaguar, same part as the Lincoln's for less.

Yeah, I was looking on rockauto last night under Jaguar but I was having trouble keeping awake (doing the bob show on the keyboard)
and couldn't directly find the Coolant Control Valve (DCCV) that Member "silverbucket" may have bought at that reduced price.



I was kind of hoping to find the Jag's version of direct bolt on GEN I fit. (not that I need a new DCCV, just did mine not too long ago)

I just looked and can't find a thing under the S series 4.0 Jag from 00-02.

Maybe I need to look at a different year?
