New member here (NW Indiana). Spent 30+ years working in the automotive aftermarket (purchasing and marketing with JC Whitney). I have a 2003 LS V-8 purchased new that has spent the past 6-years in Phoenix, AZ. Although the hot, dry climate has been kind to the body, underhood and undercarriage (they look new), the heat causes anything made of plastic/nylon to become brittle and break prematurely. Thus, I have replaced all four window regulators and now require the locking mechanisms for both rear doors (they use a nylon gear/cable drive system). I've taken the door(s) apart and removed the lock(s) to diagnose/confirm the problem. The motor cycles but the cable mechanism does not move. I can hear the motor run and see the nylon gear attached to the motor is spinning. Unfortunately the dealer would like to get $178+ each. Rather than eBay (used), I know some of these automotive forums have members with connections to get OE parts at a discount. Any help would be appreciated.
