Today I drove from Pittsburgh to Detroit for a conference and about halfway there this weird "jerk" or shudder started. Pulled out of a service plaza and got up to freeway speed (75-80ish) and after about a mile I got this weird jerk. Kinda feels like something binding up then release all in a split second, kinda a thud noise.
I pulled over and looked under the hood, all seemed fine, no cels or anything (not that I was checking for CELs under the hood )
Drove for awhile more and it did it quite a few more times. About ten miles outside of Detroit an error popped up "ETC Failsafe Mode".
Now from what I understand that is an error most likely relations to the COP issue these are notorious for, but could that explain the jerk/shudder? It seems like a drivetrain (tranny or diff) issue.
It's a 2003 with 106k miles.
