2003 LS V8 Car History:
21,500 miles: shift solenoid + VSS sensor under warranty
31,200 miles: re & re trans pan and V body and replace shift solenoid block & reprogram PCM under warranty.

64,000 miles. Code: P0775. Doesn't go into overdrive. Revs very high before shifting from 1 to 2.

REPLACED the shift solenoid assembly with a dealeship bought new one at 72,000 miles (spent a year with a three gear LS). Still getting P0775 and the same shifting behavior.

Shops are quoting $2,500 to $5,000 +taxes, supposedly for re & re and tranny rebuild.

Found a used one for $1K with shipping. But another $500-$600 to put it in... and how the heck do I know what I'd be getting?

Any advice?

Ranging from what to do next, to places people know will do a good rebuilding job.

Thank you!

You are correct...for a grand you do not know what you are getting. That code means that there is a problem with the solenoid circut...not just the sol but also what ever it controls. It is usually the sol pack. you did that already so... Your concern is now looking like the rear band is broken and it is throwing the code. R&R is your best bet as you have those new parts in it and you know what you have. So says our transmission specialist.

Hi Max!

Actually I got the replacement solenoid from you guys about a year and a half ago : - ) Only got around to replacing it during the Christmas holidays!

Don't know that I am about to open up the tranny myself. Re and re would be the outer limits of how far we will do.

Need to find a solution that makes me confident enough to believe that when it comes back in my hands it is in perfect shape that it just needs a semi competent install to make things work!
