My 2004 LS V8 was running perfectly until a couple of days ago when it would not start. Remote/Fobs not work. No lights on dash when key turned on - gas gauge does not move. Battery checked with a booster - OK. Red light (PATS?) near center of windscreen on all the time. Power seats, moon roof etc. OK. Headlights not working. Maybe more stuff. Only suggestion I found on the internet was to disconnect the battery for a couple of days. will try this.

That "couple of days" stuff is nonsense. If a minute doesn't do it, then neither will a couple of days.
Check the fuses in the trunk.
Check the relays in the trunk.
Check the REM.

Is the trunk light working? Do you have a volt meter?

What is the REM?
Will check the other stuff.
But why is the red light on the dash on all the time?

...But why is the red light on the dash on all the time?

Even with the key off?

REM = Rear Electronics Module. It's behind the trunk light. It controls (via relays) power to a lot of stuff.

Could you list what is working?

yes - red light is on all the time - key in, key out, run position.
Trunk light OK
Lock/Unlock flashers when door locked/unlocked with key
Interior lights OK
Windows/Moonroof OK - open/close with key. - but not otherwise
Headlights - NO
Trunk release button - OK
Key in run position - only light on dash is the airbag warning.
Battery is good.
?????

Everything but the headlights not working fits with a faulty ignition switch. (Ignition switches on the LS seem to rarely, if ever, fail.)
I'll have to look at the wiring diagrams tonight to see if anything pops up as likely for this.

Did you verify the fuses in the trunk?

Thanks everyone. Tried the disconnect battery suggestion and it worked (Left it off for an hour so 2 days not necessary. What made me try this was the red PATS light on all the time.
