My LS8 recently went into the dealer for a quick fix. But the dealer ghave me a 05 LS6 as a rent a car. And all i have to say is i am very dissapointed. It has no up and go. when you give it gas it sounds like the motor is gonna blow. and it sucks because my LS8 is fully loaded this piece of crap is the base model. all i have to say is i am glad i did not buy the 6.


PLEASE NO LS6 OWNERS TAKE OFFENSE THIS IS AFTER OWNING A LS8 THAT I MAKE THIS ACCUSATIONS.
 
Yea, while checking out LS' before I got my '02 ls8 I test drove like 3 6's and they were not that great in the peppy-factor and only one was a base. Very glad I decided to get an 8 instead even though two of the 6's were pretty nice.
 
I bought the six, but I drove both models while deciding on a car. I didn't think either car was really that fast, but I didn't buy the car to go fast. I like the body style most of all.

i dont know about you but i got my LS8 topped out at 140mph. While racing my buddies 99 XK8 Jaguar. we were screaming going over a bridge.
 
The big advantage the V6 LS have over the V8 LS is handling. The V6 LS would out handle the V8 LS since the weight distribution is better. When I had my car at the dealer once they gave me a V6 loaner and I will admit it handled better than my V8.
 
I got the V6 (2003 model with VVT), and I found it to be quite peppy, especially in regular traffic. I tried the V8 and it was a bit faster, but not so much. Now, to be fair, I was coming out of a 140 HP 4-banger with 140K miles on it, so ANYTHING would feel faster by comparison. But, for the type of driving I do, the V6 works great!

I would agree the handling is a bit better, but the gas mileage is not significantly better in my experience (1-2 mpg and that's all).
 
I got my baby back today im so happy. no more duratech 6cyl. it wasnt too bad of a car but when you go from a loaded 8 to a bone wheres the options 6 it makes you sad lol
 
Really? I drove an '05 LS-6, and found the brakes and acceleration to be much more responsive than my own '02 LS-6, which felt sluggish by comparison.

The V-6 gets much better fuel economy than the V-8, now I'm back up to 22 in the city, 28 hgwy.
 
i test drove a v6 first around a hilly area with 2 passengers, and i kept thinking like that old wendy's commercial "wheres the beef?". just not enough torque after driving the t bird sc for 6 years. now with my v-8, i am still wishing that i had some more torque. :)

hmm interesting, I haven't ever driven a V8 but think I'd like to now. I wonder if your opinion would be different if it was a manual V6? also the hp numbers aren't that different between a 6 and an 8 so I'm surprised you noticed too much of a difference. hopefully the v6 you drove had some problem.
 
i noticed that the 6 was peppy off the get go while the 8 has a lag when you first go wot. but once that lag is over you are in your seat till you hit top speed. raced my buddies xk8 and was held down in my seat till 140mph. the 6 wasnt that torquey at all. peppy off the line but not the same at all kinda weak.
 
and too make things clear peppy is not get up and go. hondas can be peppy. so noone thinks i am contradicting my original post

get this, it would have been cheaper insurance on an ls8 than a v6 stang for me

that is very true my mustang is a 6 for now and costs more than my LS8 in insurance

I'm deeply offended by these comments, and from another LS owner! Calling an LS6 a "piece of crap"?? You can call the LS many things, but piece of crap is definitely NOT one of them.

These comments are outrageous! I formally call for Wicked LS's immediate and permanent banishment from this board!
