2005 parts car for 2003?

I found an ad for a 2005 LSV8 as a parts car. Guy is asking $500 CAD.

I was wondering if the 2005 would serve as decent parts car for my 2003? He has 150k km (93k miles) on it. Timing chain went. So hes selling as is whole car $500

Yes, all the 2005 parts should work on the 2003. It won't have the rain sensing wipers that you have, and some of it depends on if the options match. I'd be really surprised if it really had a timing chain failure.

Sounds more like bad coils than a chain problem. He probably read about the gen I timing tensioner problems and got confused, just like the ads that you see where they say it blew a head gasket (usually, it's just the expected plastic cooling system parts failures).

agreed, an 03 is not prone to having a piston/valve orgy like the 1st gens are.
