My 6-CD Player has jammed! It had 6 CD's in it and I can't get it to play or eject the CD's. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

yes, go buy a new aftermarket CD player and have it installed, and then take a screwdriver to you old on and start taking screws out until you free the trapped CDs

alternatively, you could buy a used CD changer online and pray you don't have the same problem again.

The CD Changer can be removed separately from the Head Unit and the the top cover can then be removed. Once you do that, you can see why it is jammed. There are two springs on either side that hold the plastic trays and top guide plate together. That stack of trays rides up and down plastic pins and if they get off those pins, you will get the issue you describe. If either spring breaks or comes off, it will likely jam as you indicate. It is not unusual for the innards to get all caddywhompus.

You must mean after removing the assy. from the dash? From what I read, even the center console has to be removed to get the Radio/Navigation/CD Player out of the dash.

My 2000 LS had the CD unit in glove box.....making it jam-proof! Darn!

THX nav can be replaced with aftermarket, but there's no off-the-shelf harness adapter. You'll have to do some soldering.
THX nav was an option on the gen II LS, but most of them do not have that option.

I have a broken THX nav in my closet, but as far as I can remember, the CD changer worked/works. It is a separate-able part.

Thanks!

Remove the trim piece from around the ash tray and shifter (just pulls up), remove the center vents (just pulls out, then unplug message center buttons), unbolt the ash tray and set it aside, unbolt the top of the radio/climate control bracket, unbolt the bottom of the radio/climate control bracket, unplug radio, unplug climate control, remove screws holding radio to brackets.

Thanks!

I've had the Head Unit out of my 2002 several times in the past few months. At no time did I have to remove the Center Console. The cover surrounding the Ash Tray pops off FROM THE TOP )two tans, either side) and then can be lifted out of the way (two tabs slide under the console). There are two bolts that hold the Ash Tray in and four bolts that hold the Head Unit in. To access the top bolts on the Head Unit, the Center Vent does need to be removed. Removing that without breaking the tabs could be tricky but I can't say for sure as my tabs were broken when I acquired the car.

Sure, for the cost of shipping. The catch is that while it was working when removed, I can't power it up now to verify that it is still working. Send me a message after Thanksgiving. I don't know that I'd be able to get to it before then.

Just pull it straight out and the tabs won't break (provided that someone else hasn't already broken them).

Yours is a Gen1 LS. My 2000 Gen1 had the 6-CD cartridge in the glove box and also had a cassette player. The Gen2 starting in 2003 offered the NAV option! Did I miss something here?

His description is accurate for gen II, including those with the optional THX Nav.
