Good morning, looking for for some knowledge on rear lower control arms.

I am aware of the hydro bushings on eBay and that's my main plain as of this moment.

However, I read some Jaguar forums in relation to these control arms. They seem to have been able to use the cheaper earlier year arms on the later models of their Jaguars.

My question is, what is stopping me from using the much more cost effective earlier model Lincoln LS rear lower control arms ?

They "appear" to be the same. There was some mention of a 4mm difference in width at the bushings. However, I'm not sure if this is a Jaguar issue or if it will apply to the LS in this situation.

I would rather replace the entire arm then the bushings in this situation.

Thanks

DON'T even think about the ebay bushings... or racing green... or any other cheap replacements. They don't hold up.

The difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 arms is the letters "S C" cast into them... supposedly meaning they were able to handle the supercharged engines of the later years.

Do yourself a favor and find a supplier for the "red box" Motorcraft arms. If you can't locate them... scour all the internet Ford dealers for the cheapest price for the "blue box" Ford arms. Some even offer a discount. Last option would be to "make nice" with your local Ford dealer... and hope they like you. It doesn't hurt to ask them for a discount either.

member "Rigs" and I discussed this a few years back... with no exact determination. He had both a Gen 1 and a Gen 2 arm. Everything "appeared" to be the same.

If you are thinking about saving some money... by going with Moog... I wouldn't do that either. When it comes to suspension parts for the LS... that is one place you don't want to cut costs.

But then again... your results may be different than many other members on here... that wish they hadn't.

reviving this thread to give a pro tip to poor people

get the rear control arms from a wrecked 10-19 XJ or 09-15 XF. you get several years younger low mile oe components at low prices.

for the rear lower use a washer to fill in the gap at the hub side bushing bc it’s just slightly smaller
