I just did my first MPG check on our 2000 V6. She did a 210 mile loop 160 highway and 50 city using 8.33 gallons came out to 25.2 mpg. I was pretty happy with that #. Everyone else getting those #'s? She goes 70-75 mph also.

When my fiance takes the car to her aunts she drives about 100miles hw and 20miles city. when I get the car back it always reads 22.5ish. She drives the speed limits. :) Its a V8.

On highway, my 02 V8 gets about 23 ish, right now though, I drive like an idiot in city burbs and getting at best, right now 16, usually only get about 13 though..

I live in ood ol' city slick Washington Seattle location so nuttin but city...though I do get 18.6mpg for 90% city and 10% highway

I know the around town #'s will drop big time. Have not done that test yet but this tank i will to see.

In Wa, I ran 100 octane unleaded and yielded 27 mpg. :D I get 23-24 normally in freeway and in Wa I got about 17 city.

BUT.... Here in California....

I get about 12. No joke. Bums. Haha But I didn't buy this car for gas mileage thats for sho!

Ah a mileage thread always good to see what other users are currently getting. I have a v6 as well, Im getting like 23.5 mpg highway and driving pretty hard. Speeds anywhere from 75-80. I just changed the air filter it was pretty nasty and I think I could do a couple other small things to bump it up.

I can get around 24 on the highway without much trouble. The problem is I have a heavy foot so I average around 17 lately.

I am fairly certain that I broke the Chicago to South Bend speed record last week. Lukily my wife was sleeping and didn't look over at the speedo or she would have been pissed. That's what I love about the LS even at high speed it rides very well.

is everyones gas up to 10% ethanol? in florida it is. This guy was telling me at ford last week it ruins rubber and never leave fuel with ethanol sitting in a fiberglass gas tank on a boat, it will create a hole in it. makes me not want to use it in my car! but i have no choice, ethanol is added everywhere

how are you guys getting such high numbers? i only get around 14 city and i rarley use the interstate so no clue on those numbers. i just recently put in new coils and plugs but still have not seen a change. i am trying to get around to putting in a new fuel filter, do you think that will help out? and also if i let my car idle for a while (like in the mornings to warm my car up) my mpg drops by a few numbers, once all the way down to 11. why is that, anything serious?

This is just about how my car is in the winter. I average about 16 half city/half highway. For a few months last winter I didn't do any highway in my LS and I got about 14.5 average. In the summer I averaged around 17 city only.

About letting the car idle...well I can only assume these V8's are not that efficient when idling. I have remote start on mine so I often let it idle to warm up before I leave the house, but only for a few minutes (usually 3 to 5). Any more and you are really just wasting gas since the car warms up pretty quick.

Mine is an 04 v8 and I average 24 to 25 highway.

In south east Virginia you cannot find anything without the blasted Ethanol. I have a friend who recently bought a 06 745i from GA brought it to VA and after about 3 months it was in the shop. The BMW mechanic told him that 10% ethanol causes the engine to run hotter and also causes issues with the the on board computer. He also suggested only buying from brand name gas stations because others are mixing higher than 10%. I don't know how much truth there is to it.

WE always get worse gas milage in CA. It is because of the fuel regulations and what they can or cannot put in the gas. CARB sucks, they don't know anything about what is really good for the whole.

Well thanks for ths insight, I was wondering.. I was running around looking for higher octane fuel. It seems that my car is running worse and I have lost a little performance.

Similar to the time, when I first got the car and was putting in 87 octane

I go chevron and never cheap out.

I like the Ethanol. Of course, I come from a long line of Iowa farmers. There you can purchase higher octane Ethanol blends for the same price as the cheap stuff. Whenever I am back in the state to visit family I always fill up on it at the state line. I have never had a problem with it wearing out anything in the engine of any vehicle I've owned. I have also never had a noticeable difference in mileage because of it. Your results may vary.

Thank you, Iowa taxpayers for the subsidy.

LS208, we are getting high numbers because unlike you we drive on the interstate. I would have no problem getting 12mpg if I changed my driving habits. Of course, there are a number of things that could be causing your car to get worse mileage other than driving habits.

My car shows 14.1-14.6 daily. Sucks driving mostly city.

I did get 25.5 per the display from GA to NYC at 80mph+ with just the exhaust and intake.

Well you do realize that you may be driving city but you aren't using up as much gas as you would be on the freeway or highway. I only have to travel .5miles to where I work vs where I used to live was 5-6miles. I got better gas mileage from my old place just cause i took the highway but it was longer distance so more consumption.....if that makes sense :p

Thanks pagluy and rainjacks for your responses, i will be driving from my home town of Pocatello, Idaho to Sacramento to spend the summer out there and am kind of curious to see what kind of numbers i will be able to get and compare with what a lot of you guys have been getting.

Me and rainjacks are special. The rest of you can SUCK IT!!

Thank goodness I'm not the only person with crap city mpg! Here in CT I'm getting 16-16.4mpg, BUT thats with coils that seriously need to be replaced.

I DO miss being able to get 94 Octane gas though, one thing I loved about Michigan when I lived there!
