3.5'' speakers WTF

I have been upgrading my entire stero system and the last speakers that I have to replace were the center console speakers.

So I read on the forum and saw that people were saying that the center console speakers are 3.5''

I order some infinity 3.5'' and get them into today. During my lunch, I went out and checked the fit. Then I said "WTF!". The speakers in the center console are 2.5'' not 3.5''.

The only way the 3.5'' will fit is to remove the speaker mount, and not put the grill on. No thanks

Instead, on mounting by dropping in hole like the stock, Maybe I can mount from the inside.

Has anybody else replaced these speakers?

got them in

so with a little cutting and shaving, I got them in.

The installation was not that bad with the right tools (deremel tool, drill), however, if you don't measure it correctly your f*ck*d.

I haven't listened to them enough to know if they made any difference. They must help a least a little because they aren't paper.
