I know some people have considered a DOHC swap on the Town Car but since the new 3 Valve Heads are SOHC I would think they would swap pretty easily anyone know anymore about it?

hmmm....quite a good idea. if it's just differnt heads on the same block then i bet it wouldnt even be that hard...tho i know VERY little about the 24v 4.6l. as in like only that it has 24v's and it's 4.6l :p

The heads will bolt-in; but the cam is a variable-timing-controlled component; meaning your stock computer will not be able to properly run the engine. A full engine/ computer swap could work, but then you have to worry about the compatability of other components such as transmission, speedo, climate, etc.

Would it be possible to use MegaSquirt for the engine and retain the stock computer for the rest of the functions?

I don't know about that MegaSquirt thing, but with some wiring skills, you could integrate the old PCM with stock components...

Did you know that when Ford was testing the DOHC for the 93' Mark VIII, they put the engine in like 10 towncars to do the testing. They're probably destroyed now, but in early 91-92 there were some DOHC Towncars running around.

Same thing with 1991 Thunderbird SVT's. 3 were made with 310hp DOHC's, Cobra wheels, unique bodykits, etc. Two were destroyed, one is in existance...
