Howdy,

is it possible? Doing the math on my current FWD 97 Regal GS with its supercharged V6 and its curb weight, to match it I would need to make about 300hp at the flywheel to match the thrust to weight in a TC. With some ported heads, Bullit/PI intake c/K&N, big MAF, street cams, and a good exhauste get me there while still burning 87 octane? I like superchargers but booste means better gas, especially with no intercooler. N2O is under consideration but I want to make an honest 300 on 87 then add the good stuff for some bottle feeding if I venture to the strip or need to blow someone away. Any suggestions would gladdly be welcomed and making more power is always better but I want to kee the car 87 octane friendly since gas is going up and with a TC my mpg would be doing the opposite.

Thanks,

Thanks,
sure it's possible! especially out of the 4.6L....just get a supership for it, that'll increase it's output alot as well.

PI heads
PI intake
75mm+ throttle/ ported plenum
Comp Cams - XE262AH Cams
mid or long tube headers
good exhaust
and a good chip...

...will bring you to over 300hp. Unless you go with a blower, the Bullit intake is worthless and not worth the $1200 you'll spend for it. If you do choose a blower and Bullit intake, you'll have to spend a little extra $$$ and relocate the battery.

Keep in mind that most tunes/ chips require high octane because of beter performance and timing changes, so you may have to use 93 instead of the 87 you hope for.

my Supercharged Regal already drinks pump premium so I'd like to keep the octane down by pumping up the engines effeciency. I'm eyeballing the Patriot Performance Stage II heads with "street" Comp Cams bumpsticks. Do the 99+ Panthers already have the PI heads so when I put those on I don't have worry about raising the compression ratio? Good heads, matched cams, good intake, and headers ought to give me more power and maybe even better mileage if the car by uncorking the intake and exhaust.

Thanks for the replys,

Panther vehicles were the last Fords to get the PI heads in 2001. All 2001+ Panthers have PI Heads. The PI headed copression ratio is 9.4:1. NPI (non-PI heads) are about 9:1...

what happens when you put PI heads on a NPI short block? I heard it was like 10:1 not very 87 octane friendly.

Thanks,

I think you mean putting PI cams in NPI heads- I think that's what the Mustang boys are doing these days...

headers for a 4.6l 94 Town Car

Do you know of anyone that makes a header for a Town Car or anyone who has used mustang or explorer 4.6 headers that fit? I have a stock 4.6 in my TC and I'm looking for information on what I can use to bump up it's performance like headers with a better exhaust and if a bigger throttle body and maf are available to swap in.
